This is the background legend from a Visual Novel I'm working on.  Everything is completely fictitious and no part of the fantasy language I use or any of the events mentioned is associated with any real life peoples or legends.  I'm just putting this up so people can know about this before I release the game, as it's not likely to be recounted in its entirety like this.

There is a tale told among the Maeryu tribes about the origins of the sun and the moon and the stars, all created by their keeper, who exists in the vast space beyond the sky.

In the beginning, there was just the Keeper's realm, and everything felt empty.  The Keeper was dissatisfied with this, and created the Moon Maiden and the Sun Lord.  The Moon Maiden and Sun Lord began to build a world with many forms of life, and the Keeper oversaw this world's production.

The Sun Lord molded the earth into the forms of mountains and valleys, and idly blew dust across His landscapes.  The Moon Maiden created rivers to wind through the earth and oceans to fill up the deepest holes, and placed mists to adorn their surfaces.  The two then worked together, to form plants and animals from what they had already made, and then withdrew to watch their creations grow.  It wasn't long until the gods realized that what they had created was too predictable, too dependent upon them.  The Moon Maiden and Sun Lord then worked together one more time to create the humans, and watched as their new creations astounded them with creations of their own.

The two young gods were opposites and wanted to stay as far from each other as possible, but both also wanted to watch their creations.  They struck up an agreement, making their homes among the clouds in the sky and chasing each other across it endlessly so neither would have more chance to see the world below than the other.

The gods watched the humans go through their lives, and gave their charges the occasional nudge to help them to survive.  In return, the people worshiped the gods, giving them gifts and thanking them for all they had done.

The world lived in peace for a few generations.

The Sun Lord grew tired of the monotony, seeing the same people do the same things every day when He passed over them.  His eyes happened to glance upon a large forest near many settlements, and His mind started forming a plot to end His boredom.

He started a fire, watching as the flames lit upon branch after branch, the heat consuming everything.  But then it went farther and farther, marching relentlessly through all the life in its way towards the people.  Panicking, the Sun Lord tried to quench the flames' thirst for three days, but did not have the power the stop the inferno.

Finally, the Moon Maiden, seeing all the pain His foolishness had caused, used up almost all of Her power to stop the fire once and for all.

The Sun Lord was very remorseful for what He had done, and hid behind the clouds for three more days while the Moon Maiden rested from Her exertion.  The world below was in darkness, and the people prayed for the Moon Maiden to be alright.  When She finally came out, She was much weaker than ever before, and from then on could not be at full power like before except once every thirty days, spending the nights leading up to that point building up Her power in preparation.

The people rejoiced, and worshiped Her more than ever before, leaving offerings on newly constructed altars during Her time of power.  The Sun Lord watched all this after coming out of hiding, and grew jealous.  The Keeper saw this, and devised a plan to try to keep peace.  The Keeper could not leave the Throne lest everything disappear, gods and all, and so created new beings to act as messengers between the gods while they were in the new world.

The messengers were very weak, and only lived long enough to complete one task.  In gratitude, The Keeper made them each a home of glistening jewels positioned around the Throne.

There was peace for a time once more...

...Until the Sun Lord's jealously inevitably erupted.

But that is a story for another time.
The fictional language used and the events in this aren't really based off of anything though I wouldn't be surprised if there were a similarity to a real life language/traditional legend. I made up the language myself, it's still being worked one, but it's the sort of thing I do on the fly and then add to the master list.

This is from Shaeyu jun Ikkshaelun, which is a visual novel I'm working on. I'm pretty excited for it, my first game actually. I'm going to be doing... Well, pretty much everything. xD

If you want to give a critique or whatever, go ahead. :] The wording gets pretty redundant, I know, but I wanted to have a specific voice for it. And the Keeper didn't help any what with that character being genderless and the English language not having a gender neutral pronoun. >:[

Again, in case you didn't notice it the first time:
